FAQ's

Q. We are having a factory clear-out and we have come across several drums of old and spent chemicals, how can we dispose of them?
A: Call a reputable waste management company who have experience in the identification of wastes, such as CSG. The material should be sampled and tested to define the properties and classify the waste according to the EWC.

Q. I’ve just started in business and will be producing waste during manufacture, who do I need to tell and how do I get rid of it?
A: Establish a relationship with a waste management company who can transport, treat, recycle and dispose of any waste in full legal compliance. In addition, if the waste being produced is classified as hazardous the producer will need to be registered with the Environment Agency.

Q. We have an outside above ground oil tank that’s been seeping oil for years, how do I go about cleaning up the site?
A: Consult a Company, such as CSG Lloyds Environmental, who are experts in this field. Desk top and intrusive investigation work will lead to site remediation works and subsequent validation.

Q. Can I employ anyone to take my waste away?
A: No. Whoever transports waste material must be registered with the Environment Agency. The validity of carrier registration can be checked on the web site of the Environment Agency.

Q. Will the Local Authority take my commercial waste at a recycling center?
A: Possibly. This varies from one Authority to another and of course the waste has to be capable of being recycled. Those that will accept commercial waste will almost certainly make a charge for this service.

Q. Someone has told me I need a premises code, what is it?
A: A premises code is issued to producers of hazardous waste by the Environment Agency on an annual basis and requires the payment of a fee.

Q. I own a filling station and the Fire Officer has told me I need the interceptors checking and cleaning, who do I call and what’s involved?
A: Call a reputable waste management company who have experience in all aspects of garage forecourt drainage system decontamination. Drainage gullies and interceptors will be inspected by experienced operatives and decontaminated using the appropriate equipment and techniques.
